Bryan Iguchi and the I AM SNOWBOARDING tour heads to Japan

25 Feb

I AM SNOWBOARDING- the traveling collaborative art project honoring professional snowboarder Jeff Anderson-is taking the show overseas this week to spread the love and memories of Jeff to all the shredders and fans in Tokyo through some of Jeff’s favorite things- friends, family, snowboarding, art, and partying. Jeff would have been 30 this year, and I AM SNOWBOARDING is his celebration.  The project will be on display from February 25-March 2 at the Art-In-Gallery in Tokyo, and features Jeff inspired prints and photographs from some of the industry’s greatest talents. You can definitely feel the love in each piece of art, as various images from Jeff’s childhood toe head days to more recent shots of him flying on his board, have been transformed into individual stories of Jeff’s life and love for snowboarding through the eyes and memories of each of his artists.  Some of the artists and photographers involved in this project include snowboarder and artist Bryan Iguchi, photographer Dean “Blotto” Gray, 3 year old artist Devon Weniger, professional skater Mark Gonzales, professional snowboarder Jamie Lynn, Mike Parillo, and Robert “Sticky” Shaw. Each artist and photographer involved has a special tie to Jeff, and through their collaborative interpretations and efforts, are sharing their memories of their special friend and bringing the snow community together in his honor.  From Tokyo, the tour will pick up back in the states in Tahoe, and then head to Mammoth. For more info. on I AM SNOWBOARDING and the artists involved, check out their website at http://iamjla.org/ . This is an awesome event that if you can swing it, I would totally encourage you to check out. Previous tour stops included Portland, San Francisco, and Mammoth on its opening day.  I AM SNOWBOARDING is a celebration of Jeff’s life and love for snowboarding and the people he inspired along the way. Jeff Anderson is snowboarding.
